In the city of Utrecht, you can catch a taxi from a taxi rank. These taxi ranks are exclusively for drivers with an Utrecht taxi licence (taxi licence holders). This way, we can make sure taxi drivers offer a good standard of quality. With a taxi licence, drivers can show that they are familiar with the Utrecht quality standards and that they know their way around the city.
Quality standards
The Utrecht Taxi Regulation specifies the rules that taxi drivers must stick to. These are the so-called quality standards. In short, these quality standards are as follows:
- The driver may not refuse any trips, however short.
- You are free to choose any taxi you prefer.
- Taxi fares are metered, even for short trips.
- You can ask for a receipt after your trip.
- You can pay by bank card (or you can ask to be dropped off near a cash machine).
